Pre-Soak the Mud and Scrape

You should start by finding a place to clean your ATV. If you plan on washing your quad in your driveway, make sure to hose down the sidewalk and get as much of the dirt down the drain as you can.

If your ATV is particularly muddy, you’ll probably need to scrape the mud off or soak it before you apply any soap. A plastic mud scraper is a great tool to help you pull off chunks of dirt without damaging your ATV’s paint.

Pressure Wash

A pressure washer will help you blast off any stubborn grime that remains after your initial soaking. When it comes to cleaning a muddy quad, don’t be afraid to use the pressure washer at full blast. The goal is to get as much dirt off as possible so you don’t have to spend hours scrubbing by hand.

Add Soap and Scrub

Once your ATV is rinsed, you can use a wash mitt or sponge with some bike soap or automotive detergent to scrub the surface of your four-wheeler. Clean everything from the wheels to the handlebars. Spend some time on the plastics, seat, frame, and wheels. A stiff brush is a great tool for cleaning your ATV and dragging out dirt and oil. Degreaser is a good option for oily areas.

Dry It Off

If the weather forecast is clear, you can let your quad dry in the sun. If not, you can use a lint-free towel to dry it off. An air compressor can help you blast the water out of every crevice in your four-wheeler and save you time and effort.

Polishing

Polishing your rig is the finishing touch on the cleaning process. A plastic polish can be sprayed over your ATV and can make it look brand new! Just make sure you don’t get any on the seat. After the polish, your rig is good to go and ready to get muddy all over again on your next adventure!

We hope these tips help you keep your ATV clean in between rides. If you want any more advice or you’re looking to buy a new rig, call Crossroads Powersports in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania today.
