There are so many excellent places to ride your dirt bike, from nature trails to your friend’s backyard to a motocross track. But off-road motorcycles can’t go everywhere, even if they’re meant for rough terrain. There are some places where it’s simply not practical or safe to ride your dirt bike, and we want you to be responsible, so make sure to avoid these areas, even if your fellow dirt biker is champing at the bit to go to them!

On Public Roads

Dirt bikes, unless they’re specifically dual-sport models, are strictly prohibited from pretty much all public roads. Roads are paved and off-road motorcycles just aren’t designed to operate well on pavement or asphalt. So while it might be tempting to try to ride your dirt bike on the street, you should really avoid it. Towing your dirt bike to the riding area is a much better move.

In an Industrial Area

While an industrial area might seem like it’s out of the way of motorists and like it could be a really fun place to do stunts, riding your dirt bike in an industrial area is a bad move. You never know what kinds of things might be on the ground, including spilled chemicals or sharp pieces of wood or metal that could hurt you or puncture a tire.

At Wildlife Preserves

A local wildlife preserve has a lot of dirt, yes, but you should never ride your dirt bike there. Wildlife preserves are made to protect local flora and fauna, especially endangered animals, and your dirt bike presents a serious danger to them!
